PlayCue

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 9, 2026  ·  Last updated: October 9, 2026

PlayCue ("the app") is developed by Effervetech ("we", "us"). This policy describes what data PlayCue accesses, how it is used, and what leaves your device.

Short version: PlayCue collects no personal data. The app works entirely on your device. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking. Your videos and your schedule never leave your phone.

What the app does

PlayCue lets you schedule videos stored on your device to play automatically at times you choose.

Data we access and why

Data How it is accessed Where it goes
Videos you select Android's system file picker (ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT). You choose each file; the app receives read access to only the files you pick. Nowhere. Videos are read directly from your device storage for local playback only. They are never copied, uploaded, or shared.
Schedule settings (time, repeat days, video reference) Entered by you in the app. Stored only in the app's private on-device storage.
Theme and notification preferences Chosen by you in the app. Stored only in the app's private on-device storage.

Data we do not collect

Permissions and what they are for

Permission Purpose
INTERNET Included by the app's runtime framework. The app makes no network requests for user data; core features work fully offline.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Shows playback and "missed playback" notifications (Android 13+). Optional; the app still works if denied.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM Lets scheduled playback start at the exact time you set. If not granted, the app falls back to approximate (inexact) alarms.
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT Allows a scheduled playback to appear over the lock screen, like an alarm.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Re-arms your schedules after the device restarts.
WAKE_LOCK Briefly keeps the device awake while a scheduled playback is being prepared.

Third-party services

None. PlayCue does not integrate analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or any other third-party service. There is no backend server.

Data retention and deletion

All app data lives in the app's private storage on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it completely. You can also remove individual videos' access or delete schedules at any time inside the app.

Children's privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. No personal information exists in the app to collect.

Security

Video files are accessed via Android's scoped-storage content-URI system with per-file, persisted read grants that you control. No other app or service receives access to your files through PlayCue.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
